Author's notes

This doesn't look like any drone flies I've seen before. There are no stripes on the thorax, unlike the other drone flies attracted to this same plant. Hard to get a decent photo as it spent a long time hidden down among the foliage. Again, unlike the other insects, it didn't perch on the flowers and remained in the same location for over five minutes, but mostly well hidden.
