This is only the second record of this regionally rare species away from ANBG. Any other sightings of the bee would be very welcome. It would be great to know more about its habits on Tuggeranong Hill.

Great news. I have not seen any in the Botanic Garden yet.
It appears to be feeding on Calytrix tetragona. Is this naturally occurring there?

Yes, I have recorded a patch of about 100 plants in that location.

I found the plants this morning. Needless to say no MGCB seen. Will try again when the weather is better.

There is a lot of Calytrix on the lower slopes of Mt Tenant and it is not that far from the Gigerline section of the Murrumbidgee which has a fair amount of Cassia, so the south Tuggeranong hill. Rob Roy Mt Tennant area may be worth looking for the bee in

Thanks for the info. Yes I know these populations of Calytrix through ANPS walks to cyprees pine lookout. The MGCB is probably opportunisitic in its search for food and may have been passing through the area rather than a resident as in the case of the populaion in the gardens that has still not appeared this spring. R

Hi Roger Please liaise with Owen who is regularly searches for the unusual & rare at Tugg. Hill. He may be able to help in your studies. He was extremely good with the Herimosa albovenata, White-veined Sand-skipper which he found on Tugg. Hill.
