User's notes

Abundant through the lagoon. Only flowering in shallow edge water (20-30 cm deep), in deeper water is still only submerged leaves only. Identified as M. variifolium (as opposed to M. simulans) due to: cylindrical mericarps (not clearly evident in photo), and number of pinnae on the submerged leaves, approx 8 and well-spaced (not in photo).
