Dominant over large area of lagoon. In water about 1 m deep. Inflorescences are grazed by waterfowl. The photo of immature fruits is of an inflorescence that has been damaged by waterfowl grazing.
Assigned to Cycnogeton procerum due to its robust wide leaves and semi-erect habit, and uncrowded flowers on inflorescence; and attachment of carpels.
This species extensive over deeper areas of lagoon.
Another species, C. multifructum, extensive in shallower waters, has trailing narrow leaves and crowded inflorescence.
