User's notes

Our guess is that this is a track for a rakali from the creek, to eat the fresh water mussels? Apologies if this is not enough for ID

I will confirm this record Lisa H, but as you indicate it could be better. Rakali do eat freshwater mussels, make runways and have regular eating spots, better known in the form of flat rocks on the water's edge. Foxes and birds such as ravens also leave feeding remains but are generally less habitual. You might be able to confirm this evidence if you can get good tracks in soft mud or bare sand (big webbed feet and tail drag). In such a small waterbody, Rakali are unlikely to be sighted, so signs of presence or camera trapping are the best options.

Thank you - we'll look for other signs, and are considering a camera.
