This photo, although unclear, appears to match some that I have from Tidbinbilla and Smokers Gap of a moth originally described as Leucania obusta. That name is included in the printed Checklist of Australian Lepidoptera and is used in MoV, although I can't find it on AFD. A Cirphis species is also possible.
