Hi Jiggy, I am no expert in this but I have noticed three flies around my place that have what I believe is puppeteer fungus (https://canberra.naturemapr.org/species/45329) although your fly is a much better example than mine. Just a suggestion but I will leave it to the experts for a proper ID.
