I'm not sure on the fly species, but it has been a victim of Entomophthora sp. (genus). Its a zombie fungus that controls the fly, gets it to climb up to the top of a plant and then releases its spores through the fly's abdomen with the characteristic white bands of fungus. Google it, or look it up here on CNM.

The host is a Muscid fly - possibly a Helina species
