Definitely coconut ants, strong desiccated coconut smell. About 4m from coconut ant nest in sighting 4258490, but this one seemed to be in the base of St John's Wort stems between stones, no logs or saplings close by.

I have found some nests in stones and rocks, some in thistles and verbascum.

Mike - thanks, I have seen ant nests in thistles before but I assumed they were not coconut ants - next time I will look more carefully.
