Briefly found itself on the white tiles of the bathroom floor. Body length ca 18 mm, overall leg-span ca 35 mm x 40 mm.

Been looking at the photos on CNM - how do you distinguish Venatrix from Allocosa?

Hi Harvey. After looking at Volker Framenau's website http://www.lycosidae.info/identification/australia/ I now think this is a Venatrix, possibly V. speciosa or V. esposica. The images for 'Allocosa palabunda' in CNM do not match the figures from the original description of Lycosa [now Allocosa] palabunda, as reproduced in the above website. Regards, Kim.
