The strange 'species' name is explained here: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Species/45511. I asked a friend of mine, who studies such cup fungi, about this but she couldn't do better than agree that it resembles some Helvellas. I hope to see it one day so that I can check it microscopically. It's quite intriguing.
