Thanks Yumi I've been photographing this for a while so checked Robert Whyte's "A Field Guide to Spiders of Australia". I'm looking forward to the proposed revision of the taxonomy - Robert has this as Hypoblemum villosum (unofficial) male p. 251 so the name might change in the future? :)
Oh, a revision (Hill, Otto & Whyte, 2019) of Hypoblemum was published in February last year! CathB found it and brought it up a few months after it was published, allowing all the Hypoblemum sightings to be sorted. It's very comprehensive and has lots of reference photos as well as courtship behaviour descriptions etc. It's definitely worth a read: https://peckhamia.com/peckhamia/PECKHAMIA_180.1.pdf Presumably you have one of the older versions of their book. i.e. 2017 (I have this one) where the Hypoblemum section is full of uncertainty. Basically, the ones the book refers to as H. albovitattum or H. villosum have been redescribed and named as either H. griseum ("shaggy" brown abdomen) or H. scutulatum (bronze/black and "shiny" in males and translucent light brown with dark brown bands on females). The sightings on CNM have developed a lot, so there are a fair few sightings you could look at and there are also lots of photographs in the link!
That's fantastic Yumi, you're right I have the 2017 version and was unaware of the existence of the revision - brilliant. I have much to learn so thanks :)
