Further Pied Lacewing mating ritual observations. Two Pied Lacewings were seen on the trunk of a large eucalyptus. It is assumed that the slightly larger one, the lower one in the photos, was the female and the male the smaller upper one. After 10 mins they approached each other, lots of antennae waving. After another 10 mins she clasped his right hand antenna in her left hand elbow and started to drag him down the tree trunk about 20 cm. They remained stationary in this position for the next 45 mins. No mating was observed and I have no idea what happened next.
