Lacewing pair just after mating. Smaller male in the foreground, larger female behind.

The female drew her abdomen up towards her mouth and started manipulating a gel sack. Lacewings normally lay their eggs on stalks made from a solidified gel, this may have been the start of this process. Someone in the know might be able to clarify what the gel sack actually is.
