Does it have large thorns/spikes?

Hi mike, I couldn’t see any thorns on the photo but I can go back there and make sure, it’s on my morning walk. There was another smaller tree nearby without any seed pods.

I checked again this morning, definitely no thorns at all!

Lucky to have the thornless variety. Check the species photos for the vicious thorns.

Ouch! So there are two varieties?

Leaves look identical to my photos of the normal thorny variety, so I'd say you could confirm this.

The thornless variety is a bit of a misnomer - it's seedlings are thorny and I think it heavily damage can start producing thorns - not one to plant in your garden
