Most specimens of this species I can see online have distinct banded markings across the forewings which this specimen seems to lack - although a specimen of this species posted by Nick Lambert on the ALA looks similar to this one. I was present the night that Ken took this photo. The orange hindwinged Lasiosticha opimella and canilinea were both present on the lightsheet. When Ken showed me this photo, I was at first uncertain, but as Ian notes some specimens don't show the more typical banded markings, and I think the angle of the photo might have built on that. Structurally the photo matches L. opimella.
