User's notes

Sorry, this is from December last year, I am catching up with some photos I have. One night I heard some flying foxes outside and was able to get this photograph. They were in the tops of our trees and flew off as I approached, despite them being so high in the trees. At the same time I could see other flying foxes flying above our neighbourhood.

The tree is in flower, do you know the species? It's good to know what species they feed on.

I think it is a mugga ironbark

Thanks, that's interesting, mugga often flower in winter, but it's a very odd season. They have high nectar and the bats have fed on them other years.
