A large brown velvety spider with huge front-facing eyes.

Nice find!
I think this resembles the colouration of an adult female Deinopis subrufa, but I'm happy to go with Deinopidae (family) too.

A similar species appears to be Deinopis ravida, however, we could be out of range:
