Identification suggested by Al Newton, possibly Xantholinini. It was on rocks at the edge of my fish pond.

This doesn't seem to have the expanded tarsi on the front legs that house the silk glands of webspinners.

Hi Cath, You are right and anyway it is too large. Could be a beetle larva but its not like anything I know
