Good find, not often seen. Was it under bark or wandering around. Related to the very plumose Ptilocnemis, feather-legged bugs in the Holoptilinae . Ant feeders. (I don't get to see other insects other than grasshoppers now)

They are fairly unusual Roger I've found them three times, all in Belconnen, in 2015/16. Always under bark. I'll put the sightings up after the site renovation is done. BTW I'd like to say how often I refer to your wonderful book :). The concept is very clever and helpful during my wanderings.

Hi Roger, it was on the tree trunk where there was loose bark, but it was in the open when I saw and photographed it. I tried just now to add the photo not so cropped, for context, but the system would not let me edit the sighting (only replace or delete, so I just closed my session).

ALA has it in Reduviidae, so I've moved it out of grasshoppers into Assassin bugs (Reduviidae).
I won't bother to ask how it got into grasshoppers.
