This looks like an Endoxyla sp. but I have been unable to match it to the species level. Looks similar to an Endixyla spp photographed by D. Hobern at Blackheath NSW see: https://biocache.ala.org.au/occurrences/21384dfc-f08e-4328-b4cb-245593f91cab
Thanks Ian, i agree, have just gone outside and it was still there and took some more (poor) pics and looks the same. It may be laying eggs, will check in the morning before going to work.
