Hi Jon, sorry, don't have another angle on this one. Thanks for pointing this out, I will make an effort to get more angles the next time. Size was about 2.5 mm (the yellow stripe is 2 mm across)
Hi Marthijn, I have IDed this only to subfamily as two genera, Iridomyrmex and Anonychomyrma, can look very similar at some angles. It could be Iridomyrmex rufoniger, like your other sighting, but can't be sure. Cheers, Jon
Thanks Jon, likely they are the same as in my newer sighting, as the photos were taken about 0.5 m apart (this one on a garden hose providing a ramp to the wall of the other sighting). Truly impressed by how well you can identify these.
