I think this is Xylocopa aerata, of which there are several sightings on CNM. There is no species called "Xylocopa lestis", but Lestis is a subgenus of Xylocopa, and the one that Xylocopa aerata is classified in. Thus Xylocopa aerata can also be referred to as "Xylocopa (Lestis) aerata".
