Second photo is a different angle, making it look slimmer, but it did look a bit "dumpy" ...

Looking at E. fraudelens on the ALA there are some specimens which apparently have similar aberrant markings i.e. crescent shaped markings associated with the usually entire yellow spot surrounded by black.
