This Tau Emerald Dragonfly was nowhere near water, in fact it was on the north aspect of the hill, the hottest part of the hill that day. It seemed to be happy grasping that dead stick.
This is actually an immature male Blue Skimmer that has not yet developed any of the blue pruinescence. Many species of dragonfly fly well away from their watery habitats when first emerged from the larval state and mature in bushland before returning to breed.
Hi Harvey, Many thanks for that correction, I would never have identified it correctly. Many thanks also for the information about them moving away from water. Cheers
