There is a Catoblemma larva in this image. The large blob underneath the stem. It covers itself with the remains of the scale tests. See page 209 my book.

Correct. The taxonomy of Catoblemma and Mataeomera is confusing as they appear to be congeneric, I will check with Ted. The cases of the Catoblemma/Mataeomera feeding on the brown E. coriaceus are reddish whereas those feeding on the white E. confusus are whitish.

Its a problem keeping up with all the name changes especially when its not ones own speciality. So Mataeomeria takes precedence
