Thanks Roger. Rufipennis also has black suture line and is a good 5mm bigger than erythroptera (which I have also photographed this season, both here and at coast). This particular beetle measures 17mm which indicates C. rufipennis. The clinger for me, and have had Allen S agree; is that the pronotum on rufipennis is much broader, deeper and actually markedly distended (compared to erythroptera). Am only new to this tangent and humbly accept ultimate decision.
