I am inclined to think this is Brachyscome radicans rather than Brachyscome obovata, which usually occurs at higher altitudes.

I'm not familiar with radicans, but I'd call that one scapigera, just going on leaf shape. Usually grows in dampish grassland to outright bog.

I don’t think it is scapigera, which has 45-90 petals. Radicans has 14-43 petals and grows in bogs and alomg stream banks. Obovata has 25-30 petals, and likes it wer too.

Definitely not a wet area. Sandy granite soils on exposed hillside. Growing in dense Themeda. OEH staff coming for a field day near by on Friday to share the Tarango leek Orchid with locals. I will get them to drop in at the cemetery and see what they think.

Looking forward to hearing what they say. After all this discussion, I am coming to think it could be an exotic. And not a Brachyscome at all.

Ah-hah, I think I've been caught out by this before. How about Calotis scabiosifolia var integrigolia? The darkish purple colour is good for that (better than for Brachyscome which are usually paler) and I can see the odd small tooth on the leaf margins which also fits. I even have photos of it from down that way.

That makes a lot of sense. I was thrown by the short flower stalk.
