Suzi - this butterfly was patrolling pretty much shrub for shrub the same territory as patrolled by a dainty swallowtail earlier in the year and in late 2017. Could it be the same butterfly or is it just a prime spot for the species?

What would be a native alternative to red valerian, which is invading the nature reserves?

Hi Michael, they will be different butterflies patrolling prime nectar resources I suspect.

Very little "native" |Red Hill plants are providing nectar at the moment, but the 100 year old Callistemon citrinus planted by Charles Weston were also visited by this butterfly
