Significant sighting

Second CNM record of this localised species. The preferred food plant of the larvae is the sheoak mistletoe. The 2003 fires took out so much River She Oak - the host of the mistletoe- that we almost lost this species of butterfly from the ACT - but it is now well on the way to recovery.

Fire could potentially take out this colony today.

They were high up in the tree and when they flew they kept high and did not come down low, we watched them for as long as we could but then they disappeared into the sheoak and could not be seen.
