These are two different photos of two different scats. Walking along the ridge I casually counted six different scat piles on rocks. One pile could be a coincidence, but six piles seems very suspicious of wombat scat to me. Maybe there's a hardy survivor hiding on Isaacs's Ridge? -that would be quite a scoop!
I saw a hole in the fence and tried to follow the track around the hill but lost it in the dry ground and rabbit warrens. There was a dead wombat at Long Gully Road a couple of weeks ago but fhese are fresh scats.
I don't know if this is old or new, but it seems to be an extension of range. There are reports of a wombat near the top of Long Gully Road (where I found the dead one) and I think there is a burrow further down the hill. Wikipedia gives their range as 23 ha but it is a long climb up to the top of the ridge. Maybe there isn't much food around.
