Could someone remove it while the infestation is still small? Dumped garden waste originally?

Yes definitely and yes highly likely dumped garden waste. What do you recommend as best method?

They form many tiny bulbs that have to be carefully removed, with a follow-up next year. Dig them out, double bag them in black plastic and let them cook in the sun.

The National Herbarium says 'additional specimens would be nice' so please press and dry some.
