This looks more like the as-yet un-named species Dichondra sp. A. sensu Harden, (1992), a characteristic species of low-lying areas on the Monaro. It has hairy leaves, which can be seen in the pictures, as opposed to the relatively hairless leaves of Dichondra reopens. PlantNet has no records from the Monaro region. It doesn’t appear to be recognised by either AVH nor ALA, though there is a reference to thisspecies, noting the densely pilose under-surfaces of its leaves in a Victorian site. See: http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Dichondra~sp.+A+sensu+Harden+(1992) ... and ... http://keybase.rbg.vic.gov.au/keys/show/4812

Thanks Rainer. It stuck out because it is so dry at the moment. Th plants were located on a south-west gentle aspect in amongst a small number of rocks and leaf litter. I have seen similar plants elsewhere on our place but not recently in the dry. I'll keep an eye out. Happy to take a specimen to the herbarium or ANBG for ID. I can also take my macro lens over for some better shots. These were taken on my phone. Would any other views help with ID? Sandra

I’m pretty confident of my id. I see the hairy one frequently on the Monaro. I have both species growing in pots on my balcony.

Okay thanks. I'll take note of any others I find on our place.

Thanks Rainer I was basing my ID on the Flora of NSW, which does not include this new species - so great to be up to date.

Michael, I think there’d be more records of Dichondra that would go to this!
