User's notes

Just under 2 metres in height, bark rough and flaky, seemed out of place and looked like an introduced plant.

Arbutus unedo, Irish Strawberry-tree. The fruit are edible (!) but the specific epithet literally means “eat one only” (un eco). Clearly an exotic and with a propensity to invade, being dispersed by fruit eating birds, and more-or-less pre-adapted to the Canberra environment.
