This has the potential to be a major weed, hopefully we can get on top of this outbreak
User's notes
Plants were prostrate, mostly on damp soil (land), yellowing, and mostly infertile. Identity was not obvious until an inflorescence was found. Occurring in several patches along northern shoreline of Yarramundi Reach, notably in areas where brambles and/or willows (+/- cumbungi) have been controlled.
There is a previous record of Alligator Weed from Warrina Inlet from Jan 2014 in ALA.

Yes thank you for reporting this - this infestation at West Basin while reducing in density in parts has actually increased in area - so not yet contained. The NCA is working on these infestations. Alligator weed is a very persistent and invasive species - requires spraying two to three times in the growing season over several years to eventually kill it. So early detection is crucial.
