This is a very rare find for the ACT, with only one previous recording according to Suzi Bond's ACT Butterflies Field Guide.

Christine this is an excellent record, thanks so much for submitting it. You've provided several clear photos perfect for a successful identification, and managed to include the attendant ant in there too - well done!

Thanks so much Suzi. I knew when I saw it that it was a new one for me, but did not realise how unusual until I checked the field guide when I got home. Incidentally I was at the same spot yesterday, but was unable to find it or another in that area. Luckily for me it was not actually in the tree-tops! I was also intrigued that there appear to be three eyespots rather than two.
