I found this hanging from a thread in my front yard. Presumably an egg of some sort - insect/spider? Can anyone identify it?

Cocoon of a parasitic wasp - what a delightful object! Images online (search 'ichneumonidae cocoon') suggest subfamily Campopleginae of the Ichneumonidae.

Hi Kim, The wasp has just hatched. Just finished photographing. Should I post as a new sighting or add the photos to this one?
