EFlora of North America states that the basal leaves are usually withered at flowering. http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1&taxon_id=250005993
However, it is the only Gamocheta in Plantnet with the tops of the leaves very hairy and interrupted flower clusters.
