Significant sighting

This plant has not been sighted in the ACT since a 1971 record by R.Y. Berg at about the same area as this collection. There is also a 1961 record from what is now the suburb of Weetangera. I went looking for this species and couldn't find it - I had thought it was extinct in the ACT. Glad to see that it isn't. It is a widespread species across SE Australia, close to its eastern limit at Canberra. Would be good if Greening Australia could collect and propagate some seed from this plant for planting in the Black-Mountain Sandstone area.

User's notes

One plant found beside track, periodically slashed.

Possibly OK. It looks like some of the photos of this species on ALA. It needs to be identified from a specimen in the hand. There is not enough information in the photos, even of the detsils of hairs on the stem, to attempt to key it out. If it is this species it is probably a significant sighting. Someone with a collecting permit should take a specimen to the botanic gardens.

Nikki - I assume you are confident about the ID do you think the slashing is harming or helping this plant to survive.
