Quite common. It doesn't look like V. persica (or what I think is persica). I would have thought V. calycina but it doesn't match the common name of 'hairy speedwell'. What do you need for identification?

The character in the Vicflora key that distinguishes persica from calycina is that persica has single flowers on long stalks, while calycina flowers are in racemes, with several flowers along a stalk, occasionally single. Not in the key but an equally useful character is the long hairs in longitudinal bands on the stems of calycina. The hairs on the stems of persica, when present, are not in longitudinal bands.

I will have to rethink my identification of the Veronica that grows in my garden. I can't find any right now - must have done a good job on the weeding.

I wouldn't worry. Calycina does not like disturbed ground. Persica loves it.

Pretty sure you're right here Mike. Will just get @Tapirlord to double check.
