Possibly a member of the Heteromastix genus, which belongs in the Soldier beetle family

Michael, the colours are similar to those of Heteromastix but they are a bit more flattened. I'll go with a leaf beetle species that is common and widely distributed in south-east Australia ans recorded from the ACT.
