This is a Pantydia species, possibly a very dark specimen of the common Pantydia, maybe one of the others

OK thanks Glenn, I was not sure. I have attracted three of these to a UV light at my place tonight.

Interesting. Perhaps its predominantly an arid country species which periodically erupts to the south-east in response to wetting and drying cycles.

Yes, this specimen looks quite similar to an image of a male 'Pantydia sp..(1)' illustrated on the supporting disc to the recently released Part 8 of Moths of Victoria. That moth was photographed in the Big Desert in NW Victoria.
