Back in June I posted photos of a (still unconfirmed) garden orb spider. This female always returned to her egg sac in a dead leaf. She has long since disappeared but I have kept an eye on her egg sac. The spiderlings are now hatching. I have also videoed this event.

Correction: The sighting of the mother spider was posted in June but photographed in March 2017.

@MichaelMulvaney Hi Michael, I disagree with this ID. As noted in my orginal notes the female orb weaving spider sat in guard of these eggs for several weeks before they emerged.

@AlisonMilton juveniles are notoriously difficult to ID, but the egg sac pictured does look like a Hortophora sp. (Prev. Eriophora sp.) egg sac. @michaelb
