These plants are most common along an exposed NW facing slope bordering open snow gum forest with scattered specimens into the forest. Flowering this year was beginning in mid August but in past years are in full flower in mid September. When fully open the flowers have a distinct purple centre although most photographs I have seen look to have white centres. I presume these are microphylla based on the very small leaves.
Olearia iodochroa has sticky leaves. Its flowers have cream, yellow or blue to mauve centres. The top sides of microphylla leaves are covered in tiny warts. Its flower centres are yellow.
