This small animal lives in a caravan in the scrub in the Bolaro region near Adaminaby. I occasionally share the space with him/her and would be very interested in an identification. I think there is only one at present but evidence of occupation goes back several years. It is larger than a house mouse, not much longer but chubbier.
Murray Evans of Conservation and Research asked Sam Banks the following "Any ideas what this Antechinus species might be? My guess is that it’s an agile, but could be a yellow-footed antechinus (eye-rings are fairly distinct). Not being able to gauge size doesn’t help. It’s from outside the ACT (next to Murrumbidgee river near Adaminaby 1000m ASL )." Sam Banks of Fenner School ANU said "Hi Murray. I'd agree with your best guess and your uncertainty about it! The Bolaro area seems more like agilis territory but it's on the edge of that Callitris-y woodland stuff that stretches towards Cooma so it's not impossible that YFA could stray up that way..."
