For this sighting, the pair of pics wouldn't open properly, but when I refreshed the page they opened successfully.

Hi Michael, can you please tell me your version of Safari or your chosen web browser? Are you using Chrome now? It's fine at my end and I don't see this issue at all on any sightings. I can freely use the Left/Right arrows and also click through all the images in sequence quickly. Let me check for compatibility or any updates with our image gallery library, there may be some updates available for the latest browsers...
