If Michael M cannot make a suggestion based on the leaves and the white bark, you will have to wait till it flowers. Were there no gumnuts you could photograph? I could try to key it out on leaves and bark in Euclid but would need measurements of leaf length and width and a lot more information about the bark eg any marks and whether it is powdery or not.
I will rephotograph when there are flowers and gum nuts. I'm in the area at least once a week. Thanks everyone for helping - gum trees are not my speciality!
Steve it is hard to identify eucalyptus without pictures of the buds and gun nuts. However, I spoke to Greg Hayes who was the Murrumbidgee Ranger in 1978 and oversaw the euclypt plantings in the Greenway area at that time. He said that they only used species local to the ACT region which narrows down the possibilities.
