No I was unable to do so. The butterfly zipped around my feet very fast and settled, immediately closing the wings. I suggested Imperial rather than Stencilled due to the bold markings on the wings. Must say I was unable to get any indication of a blue/pale upper wings as I looked down on the species. I have other photos but non show the upper wing. I love the book. Well done on a great publication.
Thanks, great to hear you're enjoying it. I'm pretty sure you've got an Imperial Hairstreak here, but I'm reluctant to confirm it without a photo of the upperside or of the larvae/attendant ants.
