This species (or group of species) is currently listed as "Vulnerable" by the NSW Dept of Environment. This sighting is also highly significant because it was reported close to ACT borders, this species is not currently known to exist within the ACT.
User's notes
Not yet recorded from ACT. Listed as vulnerable in NSW with small populations recorded near Albury, Wagga Wagga, Bethungra, Burrinjuck Nature Reserve and possibly Cootamundra and Tumbarumba. This population near the ACT border was found by Denis Anderson on 28 Sept 2014. Half the plants were in flower, others coming into flower. Flowers showed colour variation and also showed signs of being pollinated.

Denis, congratulations on a brilliant and highly significant find. What a way to go for your first sighting! What a stunning looking specimen - thanks for your report. I notice that there seems to be some discussion around C. concolor versus C. orestes, but I'll wait to hear from Tony Wood who confirms all orchid sightings on Canberra Nature Map.

I have discussed this sighting with Mark Clements who is confident that it is in fact C. orestes. Specimens were collected on 5 October from this site and will be used to confirm the id.
