User's notes

I am curious to ascertain the identity of this plant, as its prickly foliage seems to act as a natural deterrent/repellent to Noisy Miners, while other small bird species don't seem to be as bothered, resulting in improved bird biodiversity in areas where it grows on Red Hill.

Yes Roy small birds love Blackthorn - we have planted it with other species on the Ridge above Garran, hopefully it will help sustain Red Hill's bird populations.

Thanks Dr. Mulvaney for the ID, much appreciated. A very strategic choice for the plantings and the future of the reserve! :-)
